Position: Sales Representative

Location: Remote within the Dover, Delaware area



Responsible for exhibiting Chesapeake Utilities Corporation's Mission, Vision and Values, regarding external customers, agencies, vendors, internal departments and co-workers. Identify, evaluate, and consummate new and profitable business opportunities for natural gas distribution. (NOTE: Position is Non-Commissioned).



This position will be responsible for the following duties:

Initiate and maintain relationships with land developers, builders, engineering firms, and contractors to gain insight on new opportunities.

Strategically evaluate multiple opportunities to accelerate or increase the feasibility of extending natural gas service to unserved areas or customers.

Promotes, demonstrates, and sells utility services to present and prospective customers.

Maintain strategic alliances and partnerships with appliance, plumbing, HVAC and installation contractors to facilitate the sales and installation of gas burning products within residential and commercial projects.

Attend homebuilder and other trade association functions to establish contacts and gain insight on new business opportunities. Provide presentations regarding the value, benefits, and availability of natural gas to these associations when appropriate.

Attend government planning meetings and/or review meeting notes and permit applications to gain insight on new business opportunities. Participate in planning meetings and provide presentations regarding the availability of natural gas to these government officials when appropriate.

Provide submissions to Rates to determine project feasibility and ensure compliance with the state's authorities having jurisdiction.

Prepare cost comparisons and consumption analyses for potential new customers.

Propose new business development initiatives, both regulated and unregulated.

Responsible for insurance of excellent customer satisfaction during the integration process.

Act as a liaison between operations and customer.

Attend conferences and/or training programs regularly to gain new marketing and technical awareness for business development.

Promote the value and benefits of natural gas while attending community events.

Assist in the development of marketing materials to support sales efforts to new customers.

Complete sales activity or other reports as required

Other duties as assigned.



Requires...a total commitment to Chesapeake Utilities Corporation's Mission, Vision and Values and:

Computer literacy with experience in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Ability to think strategically and analytically

Must be organized

Ability to understand and apply technical information

3 years minimum HVAC or utility experience

Sales experience in HVAC or Utility Environment desired

Bachelor's Degree or Bachelor's Degree candidate

Working Conditions:

Regional travel

Occasional evening and weekend work will be required

Occasional seminar and industry association out of town meetings.
